Lake Henry Overview
Location:
Lake Henry is situated between the towns of Ordway and Sugar City, just two miles north of Highway 96 on Lane 20. (Please refer to the map below for the exact location.)
Activities and Amenities
Lake Henry is a large lake popular for many recreational activities, including:
Fishing for catfish and bass
Swimming
Power boating, sailing, water skiing, and jet skiing
Bird watching (the lake is a regular stop on local birding tours)
The lake provides primitive campsites, vault toilets, and a boat ramp, all available free of charge.
Camping Information
Camping is free and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
There is no trash service; please take all trash with you when you leave.
Campfires are allowed only in designated areas.
Facilities
There are no toilets, showers, water service, or electricity at the lake.
All supplies and additional facilities can be found within 3 miles in nearby towns.
Important Rules and Activities
No ATVs are allowed on or around the lake.
Boating and other watercraft are welcome.
Other permitted activities include swimming, fishing, and horseback riding.
Lake Meredith
Lake Meredith is located one mile south of Highway 96 on Lane 21, just south of Lake Henry (please see the map below). The lake holds approximately 41,000 acre-feet of water and offers excellent opportunities for:
Power boating and jet skiing
Fishing for bass and catfish
Swimming
Primitive camping
Bird watchers will enjoy visiting Lake Meredith throughout the year, as the number and species of birds change with the seasons. Each fall, flocks of geese rest on the lake and feed in nearby fields.

Additional Fishing Opportunities in Crowley County
Crowley County also has two stocked reservoirs for anglers:
Ordway Reservoir — Located two miles north of Ordway on Highway 71 (see map below)
Olney Springs Reservoir — Located one mile north of Olney Springs (see map below)
Both reservoirs:
Are closed to boating
Offer excellent trout fishing in spring and fall
Offer catfish and bass fishing in summer
Are popular for bird watching
There is no fee to use these reservoirs, but a valid Colorado fishing license is required to fish at all lakes and reservoirs mentioned.
