The Clerk and Recorder is the recorder of deeds, the clerk to the Board of County Commissioners and the agent of the state Department of Revenue. The Clerk is responsible for administering state laws relating to motor vehicles, certification of automobile titles, and motor vehicle registration. The Clerk is also responsible for administering all primary, general, and coordinated elections held in the county, and for registration of voters, publication of notice of elections, appointment of election judges, and the printing and distribution of ballots. The Clerk and Recorder also issues marriage licenses, maintains records and books for the Board of Commissioners, collects a multitude of license fees and charges required by the state and maintains property records.

NOTICE OF 2023 COORDINATED ELECTION

In accordance with the provisions of the Colorado Revised Statutes, notice is hereby given that an All Mail Ballot Election will be held in the County of Crowley, on Tuesday, the 7th of November, 2023 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

     The Crowley County Clerk’s office located at 631 Main, Suite 102 in Ordway, Colorado, 81063, will be the Voter Service Polling Center for all of Crowley County.  This will be the drop off location for all ballots to be returned that are not mailed back or for any voter registration, ballot issuance, ballot replacement or information.  Hours for this service will be during regular business days(Mon -Fri), October 23rd through November 6th, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.; on Saturday, November 4th, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and Election Day, November 7th, 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

     Ballots cannot be forwarded. If you have moved or changed your mailing address to or from a Post Office Box address you must make sure that corrections are made in our office in order to receive your ballot.  Registrations or any change may also be made online at www.govotecolorado.gov. The last day to register online in order to get a ballot mailed to you will be October 30th, 2023. Anyone wanting to register after this date will have to do so in the Crowley County Clerk and Recorder’s office during the hours stated above in order to receive a ballot.

     Ballots will be mailed the week of October 20th, 2023.  If you have not received your ballot within the next week you should contact our office at the address above or call 719-267-5225 to verify your voter registration and mailing address.   

     Please note that your ballot will have 2 sides. Please review and vote both sides of your ballot. Please use only blue or black ink on your ballot. Place your voted ballot in the secrecy sleeve and envelope provided. The Self Affirmation on the return envelope must be signed for your ballot to be counted.  You may drop it off at the County Clerk’s office without postage or return by putting adequate postage on the envelope and mailing it.

     There are two different ballot styles for Crowley County for this election. Voters who live in the Crowley County School District will be receiving a RE1J ballot and those who live outside of the Crowley County School District will be receiving a STATE ballot with only the state questions on it. If you receive a RE1J ballot, please remember to vote both sides of the ballot.

     Your ballot must be received by the County Clerk on or before Election Day at 7:00 P.M.  Ballots mailed within two or three days before the election may not be received in time to be counted.  The best practice is to return the ballot as early as possible.

The Crowley County Clerk and Recorder’s Office will be conducting Logic and Accuracy Testing of our voting equipment beginning on Wednesday, October 11th and if necessary, will continue on Thursday the 12th, 2023. Testing will be conducted according to C.R.S. 1-7-509 and as set forth in the Colorado Secretary of State’s Rule 11.

 

The public is invited to attend the testing that will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Crowley County Courthouse, 631 Main, Room 104, Ordway, CO
